About Jack

Meet Jack 🐾

My name is Jack. Captain Jack if you want to be official, but my friends call me JackJack.

I’m a world-famous canine explorer born in November 2018 and adopted in January 2019 from a pawesome animal shelter called Bellwether Harbor.

I like to call myself an “All-American Canine,” but the hoomans say my dad was a Blue Heeler-Border Collie mix and my mom was a Jack Russell-Beagle mix. That’s a whole lot of dog packed into one furry explorer, which probably explains why I have enough energy to explore every inch of the great outdoors.

I love water, peanut butter, belly rubs, and following my nose into places I probably shouldn’t. Most days, you’ll find me roaming the woods of West Michigan, where every trail has a story waiting to be discovered.

Here on Hiking Jack, I share monthly “tails” from my canine point of view. Some stories are about the places I’ve explored. Some are about the wildlife I’ve encountered. But most are about the lessons I’ve learned while trying to figure out this big, beautiful world.

So grab a treat, settle in, and join me on the trail. You never know what we’ll discover together.

And if you’d like a few extra adventures between monthly tails, follow me on social for daily adventures, behind-the-scenes trail reports, and plenty of canine commentary.
